Knocking in service
Here at robert Pack Cricket we believe that you must knock in your cricket bat fully before use, this is why we offer our own hand knocking in service. This is our step by step guide of the process we put each bat through.
Step 1- oiling the bat
The first step we go through to knocking a cricket bat in is to apply a good coat of our own special brew of oil to all the bare parts of the bat, using a cloth or sponge. We will then leave that bat to dry then once the oil has soaked in we will appply a second coat then leave the bat to dry before progressing to the next stage.
Step 2- knocking in the bat
The next step of the knocking in process is to knock in the bat with a mallet. We place the bat into our block and with a mallet hit up and down the edges of the bat to round them off, this prevents the edge of the bat from cracking when the ball catches it. We also ake sure we whack around toe of the bat as it is are where damages occur the most on a bat.
Step 3- Press the bat
Here at robert Pack Cricket we will press the bat if we feel that this would benifit your bat.
Step 4- Finishing the bat
To finish the bat we will polish the bat taking off any excess oil then apply a edged or plain face or if you would preffer we would leave the face plain.
